3D-RST Project

The 3D-RST project is designed to support high-quality three-dimensional science instruction in rural Utah schools. Our mission is three-fold, with the goal of developing

  • People: Greater capacity among rural Utah science teachers to teach using core ideas, crosscutting concepts, and science & engineering practices while leveraging the funds of knowledge that exist within their students, schools, and communities.
  • Principles: Understanding how lesson study principles can be applied across geographic distances by leveraging technology in technology-mediated lesson study. Measuring changes in the social networks of rural science teachers as they engage in the 3D-RST professional learning experience.
  • Products: High-quality, NGSS and Utah SEEd aligned science lesson plans that can be shared broadly within the state and across the nation.
