Rebecca L. Sansom

Dr. Rebecca Sansom, PI, is an Assistant Professor of Science Education at Texas A&M University. Her research centers on supporting science teachers’ professional growth across all stages of their careers, with particular emphasis on high-quality collaboration, and the unique needs of rural educators. Before joining Texas A&M in 2024, Dr. Sansom served as an Associate Teaching Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Brigham Young University, where she taught general chemistry, science teaching methods, and directed the Research Experience for Teachers program. She previously taught high school chemistry and biology for eight years and was an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the National Science Foundation, contributing to the Noyce and STEM+C programs. Dr. Sansom has been deeply involved in science education leadership in Utah, including service on the Utah State Science Education Coordinating Committee, leading the writing team for the chemistry SEEd standards adopted in 2021, and briefly serving as secondary science specialist for Jordan School District. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation from Brigham Young University in 2019.
