Rebecca L. Sansom

Dr. Rebecca Sansom, PI, is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at BYU. She taught high school chemistry and biology for eight years, and is licensed as a K-12 teacher and administrator. She also served as a science specialist in the Jordan School District, where she designed and provided PD to secondary science teachers. She is a member of the State Science Education Coordinating Committee and was the writing team leader for the chemistry SEEd standards. Sansom continues to engage with teacher professional learning, by teaching a methods course for pre-service chemistry teachers, and directing the Research Experience for Teachers program at BYU. She is trained in educational research and evaluation, and studies STEM faculty change. Sansom will be responsible for all aspects of project management, including working with regional service center partners to recruit teacher participants, ensuring that the project meets all targets, and working with the advisory board and external evaluator to continuously improve the project. She will also take a primary role in planning and carrying out the workshop and oversee instruction related to chemistry.
