Matthew Cottrell

Uintah High School, Participant 2022-2024

Matthew is a high school teacher at Uintah High School currently teaching Earth Science, AP Chemistry, Chemistry, and Biology. He graduated with a BS in General Science with minors in both Biology and Chemistry from Utah State University. He then worked on a Masters of Curriculum and Instruction. Matthew spent his first year teaching at Juab high school before moving to his alma mater Uintah. He grew up in Vernal Utah and Cody Wyoming where he spent a lot of his time fishing, going to the rodeo, and participating in the local 4-H program. After graduating high school Matt served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Anchorage Alaska. On this mission Matthew learned a lot of teaching habits that he still uses today. Once he returned home he started his coursework at Utah State University where he met his wife Madison Cottrell. Madison and Matthew have a beautiful daughter Emma.
