Despite 3D Science standards being introduced over a decade ago, many teachers have not adapted their teaching methods accordingly, largely due to insufficient professional development opportunities. This implementation can be especially difficult for rural science teachers. In response, 3D-RST launched an ongoing, year-long professional learning program in 2021 for rural science teachers, following the adoption of new 3D Science standards. The program includes an initial in-person workshop and employs a Technology-Mediated Lesson Study (TMLS) approach. Teachers work in collaborative teams to design and refine 3D Science lessons across four iterative cycles throughout the academic year. Pre- and post-program interviews reveal significant improvements in teachers' understanding and implementation of 3D Science, including enhanced use of relevant vocabulary and increased confidence in teaching these concepts. The study concludes that TMLS is an effective strategy for supporting rural science teachers in adopting and implementing 3D Science practices in their classrooms.
